This is the setup we used to make our in-studio high key photos for tonight's Camera Club #1 meeting.

High Key, not High Noon )

We will be hitting the road to go to meeting soon, after feeding the Bros. Cows & Horses already are fed.

aybe the last in the grouping, depends on if I get enough time today to work up another one for variety. Deadline for submissions to Camera Club #1 for Tuesday coming meeting is Sunday evening.

High Key Devilish Otterz )

Again, selected from previous work rather than spending time in Studio, and post-processing to achieve the High-Key effect. Appreciate your comments so far; for those able to take the poll (crossposting to another blog, where there is a poll capability), please do so. You don't need to feel 'qualified', as that bit is a game of sorts. How will the poll results compare to the actual competition judge results?

High Key Rock #2 )

This one is new, one of the pieces I worked on over the past weekend. I am actually feeling a bit somber about posting it, and am happy to post it today, as this rock is a small piece of New Zealand come home with us...

This one is new, one of the pieces I worked on over the past weekend. I am actually feeling a bit somber about posting it, and am happy to post it today, as this rock is a small piece of New Zealand come home with us... and thinking about the folks I know there. I know some are OK already from reading other entries, and they aren't in Chch. Others, well, they're still firmly in mind here.

The Theme for Camera Club #1 Meeting, next week, is High Key.
Rocks )

High Key is defined as a uniform lighting pattern with very little modeling; it is exemplified with bright, often 'blown out' or overexposed backgrounds and properly exposed primary subjects. It was often used in early television, when the cameras did not cope well with high contrast differences. ETA: Another Definition: High contrast with mostly highlights & little shadow detail.

It is still used frequently for various purposes. The name comes from the main light (key light) in a lighting set up. Since this is the theme, I'm going to post several items which I'm considering entering this round. Then I'll let y'all know how your responses stack up to the On-Site Judge. That is, of course, if the score sheets are published in a timely manner... I'm still waiting for Augusts to be posted.

And now, the 'judging'...

Feel free to comment with feedback, or if you want to cheat, bounce over to the equivalent MadShutterbug site and take the 'poll'.
