Once, long ago in a galaxy far, far away, I played in the Current Middle Ages of the Society for Creative Anachronism. I played a Far Eastern Oriental fellow, who would be quite familiar with the instrument featured in this piece. And I hear that fellow saying in my head the subject line above....

1) What's the name of the instrument?

2) When and where were you doing SCA stuff? I spent a year in FL back around 1977-78, and I remember that there were a lot of Eastern Asian personae; I'm wondering if we might have met at the time.

Re. #2, think we discussed this once some years ago. You were down in/near Starhaven. I was up in An Crosaire. '79 was the first time I got to an event outside of An Crosaire due to my personal schedules and commitment to, you know, actually studying and getting a good education, and even that one was in the northern part of the state. I didn't go anywhere south until very late '80 or early '81.

Some time later than all that and after another hiatus, I received an introduction to someone as 'one of the founding members of the Shire of An Crosaire' which totally blew their minds, they only ever knowing the place as the Barony. Because, obviously only just now showing up I must be a new member...
