First Nite Home

Actually, back a bit further I suppose. Many thanks to
ichthyus who did manage to track me down in teh Discharge Unit and visit some. Greatly appreciated, that. As well as the offers to go get food from the cafeteria, though what would of come from there be the same that eventually arrived. AND because there still is no excuse for drug-induced humour which is only humourus to the drug-induced, I wish to say that I've received excellent professional advice from
quietdarkness which proved quite useful getting through the past couple nights.
Onward behind the cut for the faint at heart. Yes. Yes. Considering chain of events I am much more inclined to the assessment that Wed. night's greater discomfort is indeed attributable to passing blood clots along and out. Much better last night, though I did get out of bed about 02:00 so as not to disturb Herself, and spent the rest of the night in the big recliner chair with a couple of the cats acting as hot-pads.
After the aforementioned visit whilst waiting the arrival of my ride, Herself and I trundled on home with two stops for errands. Herself's errands, I waited in the Subaru for all but one of them. That one was paying off the bill on mechanic work on the Subaru. Then when we got home, moved things in from the car. I've weight limits on what I'm allowed to carry, which I didn't fuss about. Although it's often (and fairly so) said that health care workers, and specifically doctors and nurses, make the worst patients, I want to get better. So Herself carried laptop bag into house.
Set up the meds received on prescription, then went and pee'd again. Now, urine is normally yellow or clear; following what I went through normally not yellow or clear. Since Mr Foley came out urine is a red wine to burgundy colour. Even after all the spasming Wed. night, just burgundy. However, first time voiding at home urine was RED, with clots. Not big ones, small ones, which is why I think the spasms from the night before involved moving those buggers through a ureter much annoyed and traumatised already. And after that voiding, incision site pressure dropped way down, so that bright red probably was what accumulated in the kidney, now finaly moving along with the clots clearing. After that first voiding also, back to the bergundy colour again; rather 'old' blood, something which my nursing colleage readers understand. Should be fairly obvious though; bright red constitutes new blood, and may need further investigating. Old blood is just that, old blood clearing out.
We initially thought that me getting into the recliner would be the best plan. Recliner wasn't actually all that comfortable though, so I went and lay down in bed. Settled in on my side. Herself came through about five-ten minutes later to find me, snoring, with one of the Kitnz of Apocalypse emitting sleepyons (TM
lolleeroberts. Quite the useful sleep aid when one is not feeling up to par.
Following a several hour nap, got up just as Herself came back to the House from feeding teh Bros. I went out to say hello to them, and got a very extensive once-over by Houdini. Then back to the house and into that recliner. Some of Herself's home-made german potato soup for dinner. My, what an improvement over the past couple days fare. Watched some tube and off to bed about 21:00. Slept well until 02:00 as mentioned.
Thus it seems that the first night home passed in considerable more comfort than the last night in Hospital. No, gentle readers, that does not surprise me.
