It's 01:00 9/12 in Dunedin, New Zealand. Do you know where your memories are?

Tuesday 11 Sept. 2001 dawned clear and bright in Dunedin. We'd arrived the evening before on our first stop of our driving tour of South Island, a place called Castlewood on the hill above Dunedin. We ate breakfast and chatted a bit with our host, Peter, then set out to walk down hill and find the train station. There we boarded a tour going up the Taieri Gorge. Shot quite a bit of film that day; a bit of it's scanned, but I don't have the pictures immediately avaiable. Dinner that evening at a marvelous place, A Cow Called Berta. Highly recommended. Then off to bed about 22:00 or so.

That is how I spent my 9/11, but note the time on this posting. It's 09:00 here in the Eastern Time Zone, and we were fast asleep at the time, on 12 Sept. 2001. I've mentioned before about waking up, rather relaxed, photographing the sunrise, and then learning the news...

That's a very moving story, thank you for sharing:)

My week, however, wasn't so glamorous. I held my late father's cat while he was put to sleep on Monday. I woke up the next day and I was getting ready to take my husband to the cardiovascular surgeon for a pre op appointment to get his little toe amputated (yeah, only MY husband would throw a blood clot to his little toe, I didn't even know it was POSSIBLE until he did it) when we turned on the TV just in time to see the second plane hit the second tower. My lovely husband, under the haze of Norco, just KNEW the Chinese were attacking us and we needed to go to the gun shop to arm up! I took him to the doctor instead, and hoo boy, was he pissed at me. Let's see, Wednesday we were in preop all day and his surgery was cancelled because the surgeon had to perform some emergency heart surgery twice, and Thursday he has his toe amputated and I got to bring his stoned butt home. At least he had forgotten about going out and buying guns. Friday I quit smoking. If it wasn't the worst week of my life, it came close, but it was certainly memorable:)
