So, we gonna play The Movie Meme!

A. Pick 16 movies that you have actually seen all of and liked.
B. Pick a favorite quote from each movie.
C. Post the quotes in your journal.
D. Have those on your friends list try to guess what the movie is [[livejournal.com profile] starcat_jewel says "without Googling, you cheating bastards."]
E. Strike out the quote once it has been correctly identified and place the guesser’s username directly after the quote.

1: WHAT DO YOU MEAN, I'M NOT HELPING? Blade Runner, [livejournal.com profile] wedschilde (& with my complete and utter faith it would be you *G*)

8: That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten. Pulp Fiction, [livejournal.com profile] wedschilde

9: I'd hang you from the nipples, but you'd shock the children. Lion in Winter, [livejournal.com profile] lolleeroberts

10: Eet's so beeg. Eet's chust so BEEG. First Nudie Musical, [livejournal.com profile] marjai (With a wonderful cameo, uncredited, by Ron Howard)

11: Sometimes the magic works. Sometimes it doesn't.

12: Oh, I see! So God made you, and the baker, apparently, made God?

13: Very good... but not my favorite. Chocolat, [livejournal.com profile] lolleeroberts

14: We would not seek a battle as we are, yet as we are, we say we will not shun it. Henry V, [livejournal.com profile] wedschilde (With Kevin Brannagh!)

15: Shoot, a fella' could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff. Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, [livejournal.com profile] betnoir

16: I must have killed more men than Cecil B. DeMille. Blazing Saddles, [livejournal.com profile] marjai

Have fun, now.

ETA: Oh come on now, guys. There's still six unidentified. [livejournal.com profile] wedschilde, you sure you don't want to play?

Do you get the feeling we spent a few too many Saturdays watching old black and white classics when we were kids?

Date: 2006-08-22 07:48 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] madshutterbug.livejournal.com
Nah. Can never spend too many Saturdays watching old B&W classics. *G*

Yanno, on my part, it's I love photography, and cinematography is another genre of photography, and I love B&W. Oh, it certainly doesn't hurt that I love theatre too. One of my pet peeves is when a "Remake" of some movie is advertised; 99% of them aren't remakes, it's some other story. There may be some resemblance, but it ain't the same movie. Theatre has a much better (IMNSHO) record on this; there can be all kinds of variations on set, costume, possibly even period, but by golly it will be the same play. Lots of interpretations, but the same story.

As a movie buff I am dissapointed I know none of these. :( Number 8 sounds familiar though...

I had to look up 8, and then I (figuratively) slapped myself in the forehead for not remembering that one.

So, this is a pass, then?

Yes, because I "cheated."

But I remember the scene now where it was said.

And a fine scene it is, neh?

Date: 2006-08-22 11:49 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] zompus.livejournal.com
Yup. The locations involved really are 30 minutes' worth of driving apart, but you can get there in 10 if you don't let traffic get in your way. The character would have basically had to drive around, over, and on other cars to get there that fast.

I have a penchant for odd movies. And, being the evil, wicked, mean, and nasty fellow that I am, I've tried to find somewhat obscure quotes from same.

15 - one of the few Kubrick films I can stand, Dr. Strangelove

Date: 2006-08-22 10:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] madshutterbug.livejournal.com
Indeed. (Well, I like a few other Kubrick films.)

#5 — sounds so familiar. Is that "Young Frankenstein"? That scene where Feldman is carrying in the luggage...? Along with the "I'll take the one in the toiban"?

As for the rest — stump-o-rama.

From: [identity profile] madshutterbug.livejournal.com
Yes, though I'm proud of myself for staying away from the knockers quote.

As for the rest of them, what? Oh come on now. There's at least four up there you should know.

Houdini: Well, I think I remember hearing the one in 7 once when I was in the House, but somebody already picked that one.

In my heart of hearts, I must be in love with Gene Wilder:

16. Blazing Saddles
3. Cisco Kid

And going out on a very scary limb here:
10. First Nudie Musical

Date: 2006-08-23 02:14 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] madshutterbug.livejournal.com
You correctly identified Gene Wilder being in both 16 & 3, though you've got the name close but not exact for 3. So, I'll be giving you 3: Frisco Kid.

And yes, 10 is First Nudie Musical. *G*

You don't know me, but lomer is our mutual friend, and somehow I ended up here, so I'm going to venture a guess on #4 - Bridgit Jones' Diary?

Date: 2006-08-23 07:32 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] madshutterbug.livejournal.com
Welcome, welcome, come on in. We don't bite, though we've been known to nibble. It's a worthy offering, but alas, no, #4 is not Bridgit Jones' Diary.

Might one presume, from the icon, and being a friend of lomer, that you also enjoy a theatrical bent?

I looked it up after I answered and saw that I was about as far wrong as one could get!!! :)

Yeah, I do theater stuff, mostly the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire (hence the picture). If you've been, you've most likely seen me. I used to be Lomer's counterpart (white vs. black in chess) before she discovered the Wonderful World of Paid Performance. :)

you'll have to post an update.
