Yes, folks, it's another day of testing software with Employees of Major Software Vendor. What fun.

Part of the problem with this sort of thing, is that the tech people just don't understand the clinical part. The tech people expect the user to do the computer savvy programmer thing, not the sensible clinical thing, and therein lies the rub. This is why YOU are finding the bugs, and not the tech folks.

I used to aggravate my computer programmer husband to no end when he was in college. He'd write a program that was designed to do certain things, and I'd sit down with it and blow it up. It got to where he wanted me to test his programs, because I'd be doing what the end user would be doing, not what the tech people *expected.*

So have fun! You're probably 10 times more helpful than the tech folks.

And despite the cynical-sounding wording, I am enjoying myself. I mean, here I am being paid to break a multi-million $US computer program. *EG*

As well, about half the crew that came with the Major Software Vendor Crew is tech; the other half are RN's hired by MSV. So we've got a good mix going on here.

Actually, one of the biggest aggrivations this morning was getting our IT department to respond to some needs. Feh.

Well, as my hubby explains it, they need to have a list of several bugs in the IT dept. until they DO something about it. They also want to test the fix on each bug to make sure it doesn't screw something else up while fixing the original problem. They do software releases, not fix one bug at a time.

And yeah, I have been challenged while talking to the IT department trying to explain what isn't working on the clinical software and why it's not right.
