A Pleasant Meal

I had the great pleasure of dining with
starcat_jewel this evening. We opted for ease of finding a place and ate at the Mexican restaurant here at the Wyndham. It's excellent food, and I'm blanking on the Spanish names for our entree's. It boils down to surf and turf for myself (steak and grilled shrimp), and pork chops. This, however, does not do them justice. Nor the company.
I find it a wonder-ful thing, this meeting people through virtual world correspondance and then getting together in the physical world. One of the questions I was asked is did appearance match expectations. My answer is yes, with the qualification that details were not part of my expectation. Height, size, accoutrements such as eyeglasses, all things surmised from LJ icons (constructed avatars in this case) and comments in passing. On the other hand, camera angles apparently affected the reciprical.
So now I'm sending along safe home thoughts for the journey back to Houston; and again, I'm particularly impressed that she came. I'd underestimated the Houston-Dallas trip duration by half.
As for the remainder of the day, it was a seminar. Topics of interest to myself, related to what I do to earn the daily bread. Feel free to ask, but I doubt the intricacies of working with an information management system that records patient care is of interest outside the specific circles.
Tomorrow I shall do my little bit of theatre, contributing to the overall exchange of knowledge, thus justifying the "Combined Knowledge Summit" name of the event.
