I used to frequent stuff estate auctions (and thought it made a fine date) and adored buying the boxes full of random bits, so I can empathize with the fun of this. (I no longer do this because we have too much Stuff as it is, and I will need to launch a business of some kind if I want an excuse to keep on buying Stuff.)
