Thank You

Been pondering this, after receiving an e-mail from the Dreamwidth Powers That Be.

Not sure who did this (the e-mail said 'randomly selected' after donation), and Thank You for a month's worth of Paid Account. Haven't used any of those extra features yet, been looking at what they are, for sure.

Astute readers will observe (probably already did so) that the bottom line of many to most of my postings lately says cross-posted from Dreamwidth. Considering the recent outbreak of Drama Llama again, thought I'd mention a few things about my participation on Live Journal. Even though it is being cross-posted from Dreamwidth.

Some time back, before some corporate transactions, the Powers that Be on LJ offered a limited time offer, for sufficient funds, of a Permanent Membership. There are various perks associated with this, similar to Paid Memberships, and at the time I did control sufficient disposable income that I purchased one. So, I'm on Live Journal whether I participate or not.

I plan on continuing to participate, even if the manner of participation changes (which it has, and will continue to do) over time. After all, I spent those $$$ and I am sometimes notoriously a skinflint Scots offspring of unmarried parents... if you get the drift... and I plan on getting my $$$ worth, eh?

On the One Hand, while Permanent Membership carries a lot of those various perks associated with Paid Membership, one of them is not that withdrawal of membership swings a lot of weight where Powers that Be are concerned. They've already got those same $$$, probably spent them, and me walking away doesn't take any of them with me.

On the Other Hand, all those continuing facts of life about Live Journal and things like DDoS, or whatever, are considerations in my exploring alternate routes and venues into and on the Interwebs. Which is why I'm cross-posting, these days, from Dreamwidth.

On the Gripping Hand, I like to read, I like to write, I continue to explore doing my blog as a Photo Blog with either or both samples of art or discussion about art contained therein and that's one of the reasons I really want that alternate route and venue. If you, Dear Reader, are on Live Journal and also on Dreamwidth, indeed the Name is the Same in both places and feel free to tag there as well as here. Assuming you haven't already done so.

On to other things. Today is a day off from Hospital. It is not a day off from Ranch. There will be Morning Rounds, and then a trip to the lumber yard for lumber. Lumber will be used to make Portable Dirty Yard Bird Predator Shields, or yanno Chicken Tillers, though the full plan on Chicken Tillers involves a bit more protected space. Once lumber is acquired, I will probably begin prepping it for those self-same Chicken Tillers, though final construction will not be likely until the up-coming Three Day Weekend Celebrating Arbitrary Beginning Of Calendar Year.

Later today should be Feed Delivery. This is something new on the Ranch, within the past couple months, following some prolonged dis-satisfaction with how Local Feed Store maintained their inventory. Interesting enough, quite a few of the prices, per unit weight, are lower than Local Feed Store. Some prices are higher per unit weight, yet those particular feeds are also noticeably higher quality that what we previously obtained through Local Feed Store. And it is delivered! I am a firm believer in TANSTAAFL, so it isn't free delivery. Yet the delivery charge is not an extra fee, so it's built into the prices per unit weight.

Thus, our feed bill is not up particularly from going to Local Feed Store, our petrol bill is down since we aren't driving to Local Feed Store by a significant quantity, which also means wear on Forrest Nissan Pickup is down. Not a bad thing that last, as Forrest is over the 200,000 Mile age, eh.

All of the To Do's for the day are To Dones now. Most excellent.

Not much more reason to read on is there?

Leftovers for dinner tonight, turkey from Sunday. See, I told you not much more reason to read on.

One more day to work this year. And, it is a PayDay.

On the other hand, our coffee machine is leaking. Not from the carafe. From the pump. So, time for a new coffee machine. Likely on Saturday, and early, because I should not care to be on the road a whole lot on Saturday. Maybe tomorrow, on the way home from work. Except Herself said something about 'road trip' so I'm likely needing to take her out.

I can do that.

Playing more with Safari this week, on the few days I've been on the 'Net. Thanks, [personal profile] onyxlynx, I found the tabs. *G*
