Middle Is the End of the Work Week
Nov. 25th, 2009 03:35 pmAbout to close things down, pending on when Laptop tells me it's done with some downloads. Ah, Laptop. It's been nearly a month now since the wonderful event of corrupted files on shutdown.
After a partial Healing... After making sure all data files are backed up (and taking steps to those primary data files no longer being stored on Internal Hard Drive though there is some leeway on that)... After attempting to 'Activate' the 'healed' Windersheiss... Following another crash probably due to corrupted files... We reformatted the C drive and totally reinstalled things.
We're not totally reinstalled, but the operating system is, and then I discovered of course that my backup of the various device drivers also got corrupted. So I've downloaded and installed most of those. The one for the audio device is the only one which is 'Unsuccessful'. I might be able to live with that. We'll see. Can research that one.
AVG reinstalled. Acrobat activated. Windershiess activated. We might be in possession of a functional personal computing device again.
