madshutterbug: (c)2009 by Myself (Houdini&I)
Still overcast when I started yesterdays Ranch Watch and rounds, accompanied by Houdini. We got sunshine while we walked, and it lasted a few hours. Remained partially cloudy, still big gaps of blue sky. I'm sure Herself may of gotten some even over where SCA is happening. That'll make her happy.

Then in the afternoon the clouds rolled back in, and brought the storms. Had a panicked Border Collie to deal with, brought Houdini in and toweled him off. For the next several hours he stayed glued to my side, always touching me, while lightning and thunder assaulted our ears. Several very close strikes, and the power dropped and came back several times. Never stayed off, not even for a minute. Lots of mini-interruptions though. I've still not gone to reset the electric clocks yet.

Fortunately it dropped off before dinnertime, and I took Houdini with me for evening rounds. Then I went over to S & K's for dinner, a good visit. S said he could smell smoke in the air, and thought one of those close strikes had started something. Yet the rains were so heavy yesterday, and we've gotten so much over the past week, that it's not progressed past a smolder.

Something to keep in mind, though. My nose isn't so sensitive to pick up that odor. So I pay attention to what the Horses and Cows do, how they act. And the Bros.

And now, it's getting to be time for today's Morning Rounds.
