Storm's a-Comin'
Sep. 3rd, 2004 03:16 pmDidn't go to work at hospital today. Out the door by eight, stopped in Archer for windshield wipers for the Nissan Pickup, and LP fuel from Ace Hardware. They were out of lamp oil and D- cell batteries (we've got those on hand, just looking for more in reserve). The Smoker's Amoco station was out of all petrol. I expect that went as much to locals as to the folks who are truckin' north on US-27 through town. Chevron on Archer Road at Tower Road had gasoline. Filled the Subaru and one of the five gallon backups, the other one is already full.
In to the bank, cashier check for livestock feed, and cash. Then to Publix, a few miscellaneous items not already on hand (facial tissues, insect repellant, ice); they too were out of lamp oil, but soybean oil will work, neh? Back to Archer, Dollar Store for laundry soap. My my, they are out of our usual, bought a small amount of a backup alternative since we aren't completely out yet.
Then across the road to the Post Office, picked up mail, and down to Fortner Feed to drop off the cashier check on account. Home again, jigady-jig-jig. That completed the pleasant chores.
Loaded up the pickup with the usual two-week dump run and a load of other items collected over time and procrastinated on transporting to the dump. The yard is in much better shape for the coming storm now. Weighed the truck in and out at the dump; $10.25. Doing laundry now.
So we're stocked up on catfood, dogfood, goatfood, pigfood, chickenfood, peoplefood. Water remains topped off on the backups. Reserve fuel on hand and Vehicles topped off. Yard cleared out.
All that's left is the wind and rain... and the prayers.
