Posed, sort of, as a question for the Flist. It's from spam. I mean, I don't recognise the source address, and it's all in Cyrillic alphabet as well. Using Alta-Vista's Bablefish to translate produces this:

Let us care about your passage from the very beginning For the observance of the conditions of transportation and the safety of your property we bear responsibility! If necessary the dismantling of equipment and his installation at the new place.

So...

Is this an ad, offering to provide me with services?
Is this a horoscope, providing an insight into what might be a course of action soon in my future?
Why am I hearing this in the Ot-tar Vihm's voice?

No, never mind that last. I know why I'm hearing it in Vihm's voice.

Not ten minutes ago, a client asked why she was getting so much russian spam. I sent her to this article (http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/eight-times-more-malicious-email/story.aspx?guid=%7BAB0B5781-2734-415B-827A-D4B6568A86FA%7D&dist=hppr).

That is an interesting article.

There is no attachment associated with this particular e-mail. Unless I know the sender, I don't open attachments; even from recognised senders I've been known to inquire 'Did you send something' if it came un-announced.

The body is in HTML format; there may be something encoded in there. I'm fairly confident that since I'm viewing via webmail, the source message is on the USP provider's hardware. At least in this instance.

I've seen a number of the cited types of spam mail in my G-mail spam folder. Those remain unopened, and I wave 'bon voyage' to them as I click on the 'delete spam' button.

So, from taking a skewed viewpoint humour point of view on this spam message, which could perhaps be accentuated by running the translation through Babelfish a couple times to really spread things out, social interactions also provide some significant food for thought here in LJ Land.

Good precautions, all. Then again, recently (well, OK, a year or so ago) there were a number of vulnerabilities that were exploited via a graphic/embedded video being opened on a web page when viewed with Internet Explorer. That would have bypassed your methodology there. I was telling people to move to Firefox if they haven't already. Still do. Nullifies a lot of ActiveX vulnerabilities that, yes, well, you have to consciously choose to let in, but who knows...

Actually all this is a lie. I tell people to run from Windoze screaming...
