Regarding the whole thing about Live Journal's owners 'doing away with' Basic accounts, I believe this word will say it all.

I've been quiet on it too, mostly because I don't think there's anything worth saying. I think there are some aspects of LJ that need dealing with, and being that it seems to be failing as a business, the removing of the free basic account is a good thing if it means the site stays online.

Doesn't make for an interesting LJ entry.

It's a business; nice that they were offering free basic accounts at one point (it's how I got started). Nice that they then also offered a Plus account, with more features and 'free' but there would be ads. Nice that they offer Paid accounts, and the ads can then 'go away'. Still nice that existing Basic accounts are 'grandfathered' so we can still natter back and fort.

And it's a business. TANSTAAFL.
