The Mind Boggles

Found via Google and the Reuters Oddly Enough News:

Woman Finds Brand New Grenade In Backyard (Link should open in new window, sign-in not required)

Particularly, the quote from the police spokesperson is what is quite thoroughly boggling my mind. I'm trying to visualise finding a 'spent' grenade (in the meaning of the term, spent ordnance).

Gunny McAllister (c. 1972): When you pull the pin, Mr. Grenade is no longer your friend.

Jayne: Some grenades would be nice.

I hate that.
I mean, you try to keep your yard neat then someone comes a long and tosses ordnance on the lawn...

Or, if you prefer, a paraquote from The Jerk:
"Look, someone threw away a perfectly good grenade."

Duke Syr Merowald (c. 1980): "Don't bunch up! One grenade will get you all!"
ext_33729: Full-face head shot of my beautiful, beautiful Tink, who is a fawn Doberman. (sure would be nice if we had some grenad)

That's not as bad as those kids who found the nerve gas canisters ( with nerver gas still very much alive inside) back in 97.

I can see losing a grenade, happens all the time, I'm sure....

Quote from story:

We want to advise people that if they ever do find something suspicious-looking, they shouldn't touch it -- just leave it alone and call police."

Everyone on my flist is going to be calling those bastards.

o_O ...apparently the grenade preferred to be lawn decoration and leaped out of a plane?
