New Box

What I've Got:
- Antivirus installed. Went with Free AVG for now; checking out another suggestion.

What I Still Need to Do:
- Install a whole bunch of software. Given that I'm at work (and working), doing anything major with the laptop is for free moments. Right.
- Remove some software. Specifically, once I'm positive I've got AVG up and happy (See the next What I Don't Got), I plan on removing the trial version of McAfee. Also specifically, the box came with a pre-installed version of Micro Shaft Works (Gag. Shudder. Koff Koff).

Don't see any reason to leave that disk space occupied by software I don't intend to use. Evah.

What I Don't Got:
- An Internet connection, probably because I am at hospital and hospital's LAN doesn't recognize the MAC for the new box. I expect this is the case for both wireless and land-line. So it goes. I've got my dial-up software to install, then just need to jump through the hoops of downloading current settings. Done that before. Be curious to see if new modem makes a difference on the Ranch's old, rural telephone lines.

*YAWN* I'll vouch for AVG. Macafees is supposedly the UNI standard, but I could never get it to work properly, so when no one was looking I accidently uninstalled it and reinstated AVG.
